- Feature - The main advantages of plug taps is that they are easy to use for through-holes, but provide a more complete set of threads than taper taps. The 4 straight flutes provides fast downward chip removal for efficient threading.
- Application - The hand tap is a versatile tool that can be used to re-thread damaged or jammed threads, or to create new threads. It is suitable for tapping through or shallow holes in mild steels, aluminium, iron, copper, and hard plastic.
- Note - Ensure proper alignment, use proper tapping technique and apply even pressure when turning the tap to produce clean, accurate threads. Periodically reverse while tapping to break up chips and remove debris from the flutes to prevent clogging and ensure smooth operation. It is recommended that a suitable cutting lubricant or oil be applied during the tapping process to achieve higher quality threads and more durable taps.
